Neil Oxman - President, Co-founder
One of The Campaign Group’s founders, Neil has been the principal media architect of two Presidential primary campaigns and has elected dozens of candidates to federal and statewide office. Neil has lectured extensively on media and political strategy at Oxford University, the University of Pennsylvania, and various other colleges.
Doc Sweitzer - Co-founder
One of The Campaign Group’s founders, Doc is a veteran of over 600 campaigns and has successfully elected more than 50 Governors, Senators, or Members of Congress. His work includes domestic and international political campaigns, as well as corporate and nonprofit clients. He is a regular guest lecturer across the country on political strategy and media planning. Doc has served as a member of the Pennsylvania State Higher Education System on the Board of Governors, representing 14 universities. He’s a board member of Respectability, a national organization that advocates for people with disabilities. Doc was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Public Service by Lock Haven University for service to his hometown.
Bill Wachob - Partner
As the head of the Campaign Group’s West Coast office, Bill has helped elect ten members of Congress and numerous state/municipal officials across the nation. Prior to becoming a media consultant, Bill served 3 terms in the Pennsylvania General Assembly and came within a point of defeating a long-term incumbent Republican Congressman. Bill’s clients have often won against all odds; In 2010, the year the Republicans regained control of Congress, Bill protected five incumbent Democrats. Two clients, Loretta and Linda Sanchez, are the first sisters ever to serve in the U.S. Congress.
J.J. Balaban - Partner
J.J., Partner in The Campaign Group’s Philadelphia office, has helped create television and radio ads for campaigns in 35 states, 60 Congressional districts, and 115 media markets. J.J.—a graduate of Princeton University—served as a Congressional Press Secretary and worked on various political campaigns prior to joining The Campaign Group in 2002. J.J.’s work was hailed by the Washington Post and MSNBC’s Hardball as the best ad of 2010 and by Time Magazine as the second best ad of 2010.
Pia Carusone - Partner
Pia heads up The Campaign Group’s Washington, D.C. office. After years of winning tough campaigns, Pia served as Chief of Staff to U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and was recognized on the floor of Congress for her leadership after the Tucson shooting. The former Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security and the first Executive Director of Giffords’ gun violence prevention organization Americans for Responsible Solutions, Pia has given hundreds of TV, radio, and print interviews. She was recently named one of Politico’s “50 Politicos to Watch.”
Mark Moskowitz - Creative Director
Mark has been The Campaign Group’s chief filmmaker since the founding of the firm. His commercials have been called “a model of the medium” by Adweek magazine. In addition to hands-on producing and directing The Campaign Group’s work, Mark also has consulted on communication strategy and directed films and commercials for Blue Cross, DuPont, Haverford College, and the NBA Players Association. As a motion picture director, he wrote and directed the critically acclaimed 2003 documentary Stone Reader, which played theatrically worldwide.
Lisa Cabanel - Senior Vice President
Our Senior Vice President for Media Direction, Lisa has been the firm’s media buyer since 1983. Lisa has planned and placed media in nearly every market in the nation and has handled total media budgets in excess of $500 million. Her lengthy experience enables clients to obtain premium placement for their spots at a reduced cost.
Tommy McDonald - Vice President
Tommy has served clients across the political and nonprofit realm, including political campaigns at the mayoral, congressional, senatorial, gubernatorial and international levels as well as national advocacy organizations. He has worked in eight different states in a variety of campaign positions, including campaign manager, finance director, communications director and digital director. Tommy’s work has been featured on numerous outlets including The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and NBC Nightly News. He has been interviewed about his work by CNN, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News and was featured in an MTV documentary.
As well as serving as an account lead, Tommy leads our digital practice and has been working in the digital space since 2008.
Thomas Beal - Vice President
Thomas is a graduate of Temple University and has experience in both audio and video production as well as commercial distribution. He is responsible for ensuring the delivery of every television, radio, digital and print advertisement to the right places at the right time. He also assists clients with opposition research and in the production of advertisements.
Cenna Wilkerson - Deputy Creative Director
Cenna Wilkerson has been working with The Campaign Group since 2012, and is our Deputy Creative Director. Cenna is our main editor as well as a shoot producer, and has made hundreds of spots for campaigns across the country. Cenna’s many hours in the editor’s seat have afforded her an eye for composition and attention to detail that gives back when she’s behind the camera. She holds degrees from Penn State and The Art Institute of Philadelphia in Digital Media Production. She has done extensive additional work in the corporate, academic and non-profit sectors and also assisted in the production of multiple feature films.
